Temporary immigrants: What normal?

The "progressive" government uses day laborers at the convenience of employers.

After holding a council of ministers last Tuesday 7, Luis Planas Minister of Agriculture, ensures that Spanish production continues, and exactly two thirds of this production is exported to the European Union. The same EU that today stars in a scenario in which the interests of big capital are saved. In this sense, merchandise traffic continues to flow normally and markets continue to supply. But are the basic needs of the working class provided? Is it a priority?

Planas ensures that "The situation is of normal practice", and that the supply continues to operate on a regular basis. We could brand this statement as violent and aggressive, taking into account what is the situation that happens to the whole world. Obviously not for everyone it is the same "normal", when some people want to go back to it and for others the "normal" was a problem.

In this sense, the primary sector is one of the most affected. In other conditions, from March to the end of September, temporary workers would be coming to the field to work under conditions precarious, but obviously this is not possible, due to difficulties derived from mobility restrictions. Even so, this is not a problem for a government that calls itself progressive and that calls "Make flexible"  hiring in the field to immigrants, to be opportunists.

Decision-making by governments and the EU, they only deepen the precarious conditions of working class immigrants.

To cope with labor shortages, the government gives a truce, and by decree will allow the hiring of immigrants without papers and asylum seekers. Not just for immigrants without papers, but also unemployed in general, who may be hired without ceasing to receive unemployment benefit. It is a motivated call in the requirement to guarantee employer profits, not in solidarity in the face of the emergency and the need to supply food for everyone.

It is not a call for solidarity in view of the need to produce food for the population, but for But what will happen to all those immigrants, when they are no longer necessary for the system in crisis? Will they return to the possibility of their expulsion or internment in a Foreign Internment Center (YOU)?

Apparently for the government, this relaxation of regulations, to condition it to the system situation, it was not necessary when the "Hot returns", or when agreements were made by the EU to further tighten the conditions of freedom for immigrants, totally unfair, inhuman and arbitrary, such as shielding against refugees, or the will to want to promote certain policies against the rescue of immigrants, accusing of illegal trafficking in persons who save them from certain death. What was the government's response then to the EU? Relax those policies? Why now if the regularity conditions of immigrants are relaxed?

The answer is clear. Decision-making by governments and the EU, they only deepen the precarious conditions of working class immigrants. They are responsible for granting subsidies to landowners and large producers., of favoring the profits of distributors and large commercial chains, while small producers and rural workers see their subsistence threatened. They have in their hands decisions that affect the lives of many families, but the agreements are not aimed at safeguarding these lives, but to impoverish them more, negotiating conditions and creating new financing funds, with which to continue increasing the public debt of each country. We say: immediate legal recognition, permanent, for all immigrant lxs, full rights, without job insecurity, with extra pay, decent accommodation and security to avoid getting the Coronavirus, final closure of the CIE.

The current situation is that the Spanish people, without even having a voice, and without being the protagonist, is part of a new increase in public debt, and of a new “reconstruction of Spain”. A restoration that will continue to safeguard the interests of the bourgeoisie, and in which the productive model will continue to be dominated by the working class, women and youth.
