Chile: overwhelming triumph of the approval and Constitutional Convention

The result of the Plebiscite, 78% in favor of approval, could be smelled in the air with the increase in mobilizations in recent weeks.  The massive anniversary of the October revolution once again demonstrated that the strength of the process opened in October 2019 was maintained and the conviction that led to the outbreak remained the same. They were not 30 pesos, if not 30 years of a regime that must end. The Pinochet Constitution clearly represents this and against that they voted massively in the plebiscite.. We already told you in the streets and now we shout it at the polls.

High levels of voting and a strong demonstration of willingness to change

From the early hours of the morning, throughout the country, Voting centers began to receive long lines of people who showed up to vote. An important part of the previous campaigns was focused on that objective, With a historic abstention rate and the history of mass mobilization, there were doubts about what the level of participation would be., but most numbers indicate that it would be among the highest in recent history, hanging around the 60%. A fact that, in any case, still shows that a significant percentage of the population that does not participate in the voting is deeply disgusted with the regime that is in question today.. A majority of the population took the plebiscite as the opportunity to once again set fire to the cry of October, “Chile woke up” and is not willing to go back to sleep until its demands are met.

He 78% obtained by the approval is a resounding result and a more than graphic example of the will and transformative force that our people express., far from the doubts and brakes applied by reformists and conciliators, those who previously handed over Constituent power via the pact for “peace and the new constitution” that Piñera celebrated today in his television message.

Except in places with extreme concentrations of gangs, approval won in all regions and in the vast majority of tables abroad., I win in the towns and in rural sectors, between youth and the feminist movement.

Mobilization as a permanent impulse of the process

Beyond the forcefulness of the results, a fact that cannot escape any analysis is the permanent presence of mobilization and expressions of struggle throughout the process and particularly during the last weeks., challenging and contradicting the entire leadership of the regime, from right to center left, who sought permanently and with the most varied arguments to get the people off the streets, but he didn't succeed. Tonight's massive celebration in the Plaza de la Dignidad and in all the squares of the country is complemented by barricades and taking over the streets throughout the territory.. This is essential for what is to come, because the result in itself does not cancel or avoid the limitations that, we have pointed out to exhaustion, has the process arising from the pact. But the mobilization and its force can impose a different dynamic, as well as being able to unleash this process with a revolution, They can be the element that overflows the narrow margins in which reformists and right-wingers want to move..

That is the perspective that we promote from the Anticapitalist Movement, toning an alternative that allows us to fight for a constitution at the service of the majorities, the departure of Piñera and all the conquests that the revolution program has established.

Following the experience of the National Command through the Constituent Assembly that we promote with political organizations, social, unions and feminists, it is key to advance unitarily in building a new unitary political reference capable of presenting itself as an alternative to the false expressions of the center left or parliamentary left.
