25N Against gender violence. We fight to bury patriarchal capitalism!
"If they kill me, I will take my arms out of the grave and I will be stronger!”
Minerva Mirabal
BySocialist Impulse and Group of Socialist Workers
Fight tirelessly against regimes of hunger and death, staunchly oppose dictatorships and organize in search of a better world, It has cost the lives of thousands and thousands of women and men in the world..
Why is it commemorated? 25 of November?
He 25 November 1960 in Dominican Republic, three women who had organized to confront the dictatorship of Leónidas Trujillo were tortured and murdered. Patria, María Teresa and Minerva Mirabal are the reason why all 25N, women, men and generic sex dissidents we take to the streets to denounce that even today, sexist violence continues to be the order of the day. The governments, who have the obligation to stop it, They go beyond budgetary minutiae and eloquent pronouncements that do little or nothing to stop the gender violence that is increasing in the context of the current capitalist crisis..
In Colombia, women and sexual dissidents have mobilized, for example, against sexual abuse in Transmilenio and have organized in universities against gender-based violence. Between 31 October and 5 In November, several cases of sexual violence were made public, gender and several femicides that shook the country. This is why, that we call to continue fighting, filling the streets to commemorate this historic date.
Organize against gender violence, is to fight against capitalism!
In Colombia, Gender violence is expressed in various ways within the framework of a global capitalist crisis, where working women and women from the popular sectors live in conditions of greater precariousness.
According to DANE, women are the most unemployed with a 14,1% unlike men who represent the 9%.
Between January and November 2022, there has been 588 complaints of feminicides according to the Colombia Feminicides observatory. And according to the trans community network, there has been 11 trans-transvesticides during the year.
Complaints of sexual violence amount to 558. In the National Strike of 2021, the fighters faced rape, disappearances, torture, murders and imprisonment for confronting the government that intended to advance with a tax reform that placed the entire weight of the crisis on the shoulders of the working class and the popular sectors.
We could fill entire pages with data that show the serious situation of women and sexual dissidence., Nevertheless, It is urgent to consider how to fight and defeat the conditions that this system generates to maintain the class and gender inequalities that we experience today..
During the outbreak of 28 of April of 2021, large sectors confronted the Duque government and the Uribista and paramilitary regime, but since there was no revolutionary leadership that would help deepen the struggles to overthrow this government via strike, mobilization and organization, This process ended in an institutional exit such as the elections., where the “alternative to the right” led by Petro and Francia Márquez, They have reconciled the entire progressive program, for which a large swath of the people voted for the Historical Pact, with the bourgeoisie and in general the right that they claimed to fight. This policy of class conciliation has meant that no profound measures are taken during these 100 first days of government to change the conditions of the working class and the popular sectors, Conversely, insufficient measures have been taken that, in the midst of the economic crisis, They only take care of the pockets and privileges of the rich.
Support non-compliance or go out and demand?
The country's feminist sector was one of those that mobilized the most votes and placed hopes in the current government, many feminist and women's organizations campaigned against Francia Márquez, for what he represented and Petro, because he was his political “companion”.
Understanding the panorama that the elections presented, in which it was not possible to allow the advancement of a reactionary program like the one represented by Rodolfo Hernández, Various sectors called to vote for Petro and France, with the aim of stopping the misogynistic businessman from Hernández. Nevertheless, It is important to be clear: the program of the Historical Pact and its position of negotiating the rights of workers to take care of its governability and maintain the essence of capitalism, it will only lead us to the same crisis scenario, adjustment and repression we were in.
This has been reflected in the insufficient measures taken by the government to address the serious situation due to gender violence., what have been the measures? We ask ourselves the same question. The coalition that championed the feminist struggle has not gone beyond vain pronouncements and appointments of a Ministry of Equality of which it has not yet been said how it will work.. We hope it is not a cardboard ministry, loaded with progressive speeches, but without sufficient budget and managed by bourgeois and patriarchal justice. Therefore, We demand that the government take seriously the serious situation of sexual violence, femicides, trans-transvesticides and disappearances of girls, women and sexual dissidence.
We warn of the danger that everything will be diluted in false illusions and that the most retarded bourgeoisie will recover from the electoral blow, organizations and the working class must, in conjunction with the feminist movement, call for assemblies and mobilizations independent of the government to pressure compliance with the necessary measures to stop gender violence, having a strong stance against the traditional parties and Uribism that appear as opposition. Faced with the crisis due to sexist violence, The Historical Pact will not be able to respond with statements and famous phrases saying that they have the most inclusive cabinet of all, will have to allocate resources and high budgets to guarantee more shelter homes for victims of violence, increased hiring and salaries for staff who handle complaints, progressive measures that advance the socialization of domestic tasks, liberation of political prisoners from popular uprisings. We don't want speeches, but real solutions.
Not one less! It is without capitalism
As socialists we know that under this system of exploitation the liberation of women and sexual dissidence, They will always be a currency that can be used or thrown away., and this is why it is not enough to conquer some rights, We must make revolutions that transform society and destroy capitalism.
It is 25N, we will vindicate the lives of our fighters, those who have faced dictatorships, repressions and sexist violence, to those who have defended the interests of the working class and the popular sectors by making use of our independence and building revolutionary organizations.
We demand
Urgent increase in the budget for addressing gender-based violence, to guarantee access to protection programs and decent working conditions for the workers who address the cases.
Budget control by feminist organizations, of women and sexual dissidence of our class and the popular sectors.
Socialization of housework and care tasks through dining rooms, quality community laundries and nursing homes.
Election by popular vote and revocable mandates of judges and prosecutors. Dismissal of judges and prosecutors who cover up gender violence. Training with a gender perspective to address cases.
Against all discrimination against the LGBTIQA+ population that leaves them exposed to violence and drags them into sexual exploitation, full equality of rights: trans job quota.
