Argentina: Solano-Ripoll and a great plenary that decides everything to strengthen the Unity Left Front
Over the weekend the National Electoral Conference of our MST was held at the FIT-U and also that of the comrades of the Partido Obrero. in both events, as we already made public on Saturday afternoon, proposals for pre-candidacies were voted on starting with the formulaSolano-Ripoll and the convening of a large plenary session of the left where everything can be debated and decided.: politics, program and applications. For this great event we also put into consideration the candidacies for governor of Buenos Aires deAlejandro Bodart, Nestor Pitrola deputy andRomina Del Plan Senator. and in CABACele Fierro legislator, Vanina Biasi head of government andJessi Gentile deputy.

The common and unitary convocation, sets a very clear policy and method; We propose that the whole of the FIT-U militancy and also organizations and referents friends and sympathizers of the front, can debate and resolve with their vote, in a large plenary, on all issues.
This is specified in the common text of the MST and the PO when it says: “We agree today to call a plenary for deliberation and resolution of the left and activism that fights throughout the country to resolve on politics, the program and the candidacies of the left and agree on a common intervention to promote popular struggles. from both forces, highlighted the call to all forces of FITU, to the popular organizations and to social and intellectual referents that support our front, to participate in the plenary, to promote a common presentation of the left against the bosses' blocs responsible for the catastrophe that the country is experiencing. In this mentioned event, We will propose to constitute a common list for the elections on the basis of defending the Unity Left Front as a pole of class independence to fight for a workers' government and socialism. In the awareness that the Left Front must overcome the condition of a merely electoral front to become a channel for political mobilization of the thousands of compañeras and compañeros who are facing the adjustment and who are mobilizing in the neighborhoods, unions, youth, and all the fighting movements”.
The reasons for an important political agreement
The agreement reached with the Partido Obrero was discussed in depth at our conference, with the participation of a large number of face-to-face delegates and many others virtually from many provinces. The unanimous vote in favor of the agreement was the concrete expression of the political understanding of the moment of crisis that the FIT-U is experiencing and of the need to strengthen a political path that will get it out of that situation., and place the anti-capitalist and socialist left in better conditions in the face of the country that is coming. That it will be from greater social and political confrontations and the attempt of any of the candidates of the capitalist parties that win, to curtail social and democratic rights. And the left and our front must be stronger and better positioned for that perspective.
For these tasks and challenges, we understood that it is very positive to join forces based on clear political agreements., programmatic and political orientation on what our front must do. Because even starting each game from different conceptions and assessments of previous years, we were actually coming to the common understanding that this model of FIT-U, merely electoral, incapable of acting in unity on the struggles nor of summoning activism and our sympathizers to be an active part, Must be changed.
Together with the common understanding of the moment that the front is going through, the agreement covers the criticism of the policy of the PTS comrades, who have made a political leap, dangerous and regressive, where they combine a strong electoral adaptation, a reactionary rejection of the struggle of the independent piquetero movement and a hegemonic attempt that is not consistent with its structural weakness as a political organization.
The wrong PTS course
We are referring to a strong electoral adaptation that is not new but is increasingly pronounced, and with each debate it deepens more. she takes them, in desperation to add a few more votes, to deny CFK's responsibility for acts of corruption of its previous government. Because it is clear that justice, a friend of macrismo, must be strongly criticized and nothing that comes from it can be supported. But the PTS goes to the other side saying and writing that there is no proof, placing himself in the wrong role of attorney for the PJ government, when the structural and concrete corruption that ran through his government, it is more than obvious, as evident as that existing in the subsequent Macri government. further, The PTS cannot forget that corruption in business from the State is a structural reality of the capitalist system and its governments here and throughout the world. And that includes the government led by CFK.
Electoralism is also noticeable, and a lot, around the debate on the formation of the lists. Every time you have commented on it, the PTS says that its formulaBregman-Del Caño is the best positioned in the polls and adds that in any case everything is resolved in the STEP. In other words, the entire strategy of the revolutionary left is reduced to face-to-face or telephone consultations or the opinion of voters in general., the rest does not matter. Those who defend as a priority the opinion of people of different social classes and political backgrounds, because that is a poll or an election, at the same time they deny the unemployed workers in struggle, the right to express an opinion and decide what our front should do.
At this point the PTS has crossed a line. An article by Guillo Pistonesi explains it very well where he says: "naturally we do not agree to call a 'congress' or 'assembly' where we should put under the suffrage of comrades in struggle who do not necessarily agree with the political orientation of the FITU to our program and candidacies". But unusually it also says that: “In these conditions of the class struggle, in the STEP, that he has decided to use the PO against Myriam Bregman and the PTS and it is a resource that we have already used on other occasions (although we will continue to reject the proscriptive floor), Those who have consciously decided to support the program of our Front will vote for the FITU lists”. In summary; for the PTS it is not natural that thousands of workers debate and resolve in a large plenary session the policies and candidacies of the front, but if it seems natural to resolve through the vote in the STEP, that is, through a bourgeois democratic electoral instrument where people of different classes and political ideas vote. We call that strong adaptation to the regime.
The proposal crosses a line again, when he clearly expresses a reactionary conception towards the piquetero struggle movement. In fact, it denies him his right to decide and be part of our front. Express like this, a conception of the middle class that criticizes from the outside what is really lived and discussed in the massive popular neighborhoods of our country. And it ends by repeating the arguments of Tolosa Paz, La Nación and other right-wingers on the issue of piqueteros, arguments used by the mass media to install the idea that the unemployed are people used and forced to fight actions. That's why it's not accidental, that in sincericide mode, in a recent tweetRaul Godoy, PTS leader, capitalize the words “VOLUNTARY and CONSCIOUS”, with which he insults the piquetero movement. The least you should do is apologize for such an anti-worker expression, that in the end it is all a conception. The same conception that in turn is leading them to attack new leftist leaderships that make up the other parties on the front, trying to weaken the workers' organizations that the left has been recovering from the hands of the bureaucracy.
For all that wrong policy and for the alleged hegemonism of wanting a formula composed only of his party, the PTS today is responsible for the fact that we can end up divided in the STEP. There is still time to reflect and return to a united path and a just policy. Although reading his latest statements, doesn't seem to.
IS and its inconsistencies
While these debates are taking place between the three main forces of the FIT-U, a statement from the Socialist Left appeared rejecting the announcement of the Solano-Ripoll formula. unusually, who for a year have been proposing a formula (Bregman-Solano) now they criticize that other two parties propose another policy and different formula. Could it be that only IS can propose formulas in this debate?
What the IS address does not see, is that his proposal was wrong and destined to fail beforehand, starting because neither PTS, by PO, neither the MST accept it, because there are many other things up for debate. They should get out of their electoral reasoning and note that a formula is not being discussed in itself, but a whole front project and a policy, and the different formulas and lists proposed are the expression of a whole. From a conservative point of view, IS wants nothing to change and everything to remain the same and asks“respect previous agreements”, which only exist in your imagination. The reality indicates that everything changes and nothing will be as before, that's why you have to decide which FIT-U project you want to contribute to. You could really collaborate by joining this political fight for the future of the front. So far it doesn't.
Specific, there are two formulas under discussion: Solano-Ripoll, unitary formula made available to a large plenary of all the militancy of the FIT-U to debate and decide everything. Or the closed and one-party formula of the PTS withBregman-Del Caño, decidedgives only within his party. Which one will IS support?? Or do you also reject a large plenary to decide where you can come with your proposal? We hope it doesn't end, by some small electoral calculation, behind a one-party formula, something opposite to everything they said and that would place them as mere companions of the PTS.
Debating and deciding in plenary strengthens the FIT-U
We hold these debates because the objective is to strengthen our front and the left, since years of enormous challenges are ahead, struggles, social confrontations and political opportunities. Hence the importance of deciding and debating everything collectively and massively. And strengthen within the front the proposals to stop being a front only electoral, something that delays the real tasks and encourages common political action and the mobilization of thousands of workers and youth with the FIT-U.
As we explained in the common communiqué with the Partido Obrero, all our pre-candidacies are at the service of the debate in a large plenary, an event where from now on it would be best for everyone to participate and a common policy and a unitary list emerge from there. That is why our proposal is to all the parties of the FIT-U so that they participate and each one comes with their political proposals and candidacies., to add it to the debate and to the resolutions that are taken.
We must put aside the electoral arguments that weaken the strong and unified action of the FIT-U. If until today there is no agreement, what better than to appeal to the method of the working class, assemblyman, gathered in plenary, where we can all discuss, propose and decide. that's what we're talking about, of the most democratic and representative mechanism that we who are socialists can have. And for the same reason we invite the popular organizations that support the FIT-U, to social referents, workers, picketers, of the socio-environmental and gender struggle and intellectual friends of our front, to be part of this great plenary to decide together with the militancy of the FIT-U. Everything as part of a first instance towards a great electoral campaign where we have to be thousands and thousands defending an anti-capitalist and socialist program.
