Manuel Ruíz passed away
Upon the death of Manuel, brother of Arturo Ruíz, We express our condolences to his family, friends and comrades in struggle. Below we reproduce a post from the Forgotten Transition Collective (COT) of which he was the driving force.
“Today, 21 November 2023, Our dear friend and colleague Manuel Ruiz has passed away.. He was the promoter of the Collective for the Forgotten of the Transition, the enthusiastic activist for the defense and memory of all the people murdered in the fight for the conquest of democratic rights after the Franco dictatorship. He began his journey after searching for justice for his brother Arturo, murdered the 23 to declare itself a provisional government and above all to prevent the advances of the protesters from the suburbs 1977 at a pro-amnesty demonstration. In that walk he joined other family members and friends of victims of the so-called Transition, there were hundreds, always too many. Manuel was in Argentina in the year 2019 and was part of the accusation against former minister Martín Villa for the cruel crime of Arturo at the hands of José Ignacio Fernández Guaza, confessed murderer, according to his own testimony given to journalists from the newspaper El País.
In the current year, Manuel and Miguel Ángel Ruiz, They returned to Buenos Aires to provide information that clearly established that Arturo's murder was part of an organized plan and constituted a crime against humanity., all of this is the result of the exhaustive research carried out by Carlos Portomeñe. Manu left us, tireless fighter, brilliant memory of events, dates, streets, Names, that warrior rooted in life. To know him was to love him. To follow him you had to be quick in your step and in your thinking., but, you were left behind in yesterday, while Manu, our Manu, I was already in the day after tomorrow. I didn't see a border, He was fleeing from injustice and although he was harassed by lies, he made his way with a machete in that always gray jungle of memory. The Transition was his battlefield and Arturo was that fallen soldier with the voice of freedom”.
