France: After the electoral period, It's time for social struggle!

Revolutionary NPA Editorial

Bardella, Le Pen and her ally Ciotti failed to uncork the champagne on Sunday night, and much better this way. Seeing on television the defeated faces of the leaders of the National Rally was a moment of happiness for all those who did not want to "test" the extreme right in the government.. Macron took a slap in the first round, and Bardella another in the second... Now all that remains is to definitively overthrow all racist and antisocial policies, and we will not be able to do it in the electoral ring.

Bardella in Matignon, but not this time...

With 143 deputies – undoubtedly a record – the RN and its allies did not obtain the government majority, leaving third behind the New Popular Front and Macron's friends. The strategy adopted by the parties present in the second round of "republican withdrawal" worked. Despite having come first in the first round, despite having more votes than any of the other groups in the second round, the RN cannot govern. But his ideas and his weight in political life are inexorably strengthened., and your election results will provide you with unprecedented financial gain: no, really, we have not put an end to the deadly poison of the extreme right on workers and young people. And we have not put an end to this pro-rich and pro-employer policy applied by Macron for years, and by the right-wing and left-wing governments before him, that paved the way for the RN.

The time of bargaining against the working class

None of the three main political blocs fighting to manage government affairs has obtained an absolute majority. Macron once again sees himself as the "supreme referee", since his contempt for the working classes is immense: Will he and his allies manage to recruit other politicians from all sides who share the same servility to the interests of the bosses to form an increasingly right-wing government?? The New Popular Front alliance has already amply demonstrated its divisions and contradictory options. He has put the PS and EELV that governed before Macron back in the saddle. Will he make it through the first post-election week or will his cardboard unit break up with negotiations over who he expects to be prime minister?

Return to the social struggle

Who will allow us to win the 400 extra euros per month and raise our salaries, pensions and income 2000 net euros per month? Who will index our wages to prices? Who will ban layoffs in the private sector and all job cuts in public services? Who will allow us to retire at 60 years with 37,5 years of contributions? Who will repeal all the racist laws passed in recent years? 40 years and will regularize all immigrants without papers? Who will put an end to the ecological destruction of the planet? Who will put everyone back to work by massively reducing working hours and workload?? It won't be in the Elysée, in the Matignon Palace or in the National Assembly where we will achieve our demands! It's through our struggles, our strikes, our street mobilizations, like in 1936, when after a month of general strike and occupation of workplaces, paid vacations were taken from the employers, the week of 40 hours and salary increases… The Popular Front government had nothing to do with it!, He had not even been able to grant the right to vote to women or independence to the colonies.! Because until we obtain satisfactory answers to vital demands for the world of work, the extreme right will dig its furrow and pour out its racist and xenophobic propaganda. It is to say this and convince the people around us that we call on other organizations to demonstrate in Paris on 14 of July.
