Brazil: Doria against metro workers #EuApoioOsMetroviarios

The right-wing governor of São Paulo, João Dória (PDSB / SP), and the Metrô board, attack workers and subway workers. In the middle of the pandemic, the work of subway workers is essential, which makes the government's perverse decision more unacceptable and outrageous. Propose:

  • Lower the nightly premium of the 50% al 20%;
  • Health plan discount 10% al 20%;
  • Cancel the surcharge for ticket agents;
  • Reduce the amount of overtime on the 100% al 50%
  • Among other achievements of the collective agreement

June salaries will already reflect the salary reduction that the government intends. But subway workers and subway workers are not prepared to let this brutal attack on their rights go by.. Standing, the category decided to hit.

He 90% of the workers who participated in an assembly with 2.500 subway workers were blunt: voted for a general strike of the category on 7/1, if the government did not back down in its attack.

Workers and international solidarity

He 29/06, due to the denial of dialogue between the government and the Metro administration, a solidarity network emerged from other sectors of workers, social and political organizations and others who expressed massive support for the category through the networks. This solidarity crossed borders and messages and videos began to arrive from different countries.. From the International Socialist League - LIS, we have activated our militant and organized force to provide our support.

We know that the struggle of the São Paulo metro workers will be the norm in the coming months. We began to see our class in different places responding with struggle and rebellion to attempts at adjustments.. The pandemic accelerated the crisis, and the businessmen, together with their governments, They tried to unload the crisis on the backs of workers. That is why all our strengths are in strengthening the struggle of the workers of the São Paulo metro and all the sectors that are currently fighting. We raise our voices and shout together: The life of the subway workers is important! Strength in the fight! We defend life over profit!

Assembly of 3 thousand subway workers and subway workers

On the night of 30 of June, the leaders of the São Paulo Metro Union called a virtual assembly due to the pandemic. The participation was massive, surpassing the previous one where the plan of struggle and the strike of the 7/1. If the proposal was approved by a majority of the union's board of directors, he 79% voted to postpone the strike until 7/8 and the 18% voted to keep the strike on 7/1.

Union leaders (PCdoB / CTB and sectors of CSP-CONLUTAS and the Front of People without Fear) voted on the proposal to postpone the strike. Just a section of the Metro workers left, among them the Unidos Pra Lutar (union chain that organizes the Socialist Struggle / PSOL) had the position of waiting for the conciliation meeting called by the Labor Justice and the 2/07 (the same day) to discuss with the category the start of the strike.

The struggle continues: It is possible to defeat Doria and the Metro board

The resolution of the mass assembly was to schedule the strike for the 7/8 and a new assembly on 7/7 to analyze the progress in the negotiation, what, today, 1, begins with a negotiation hearing on TRT. Category remains on alert, with measures of struggle and mobilization discussed in the assembly. To put pressure on the government and the Metro administration, it is necessary not to abandon the state of alert and mobilization and, at the same time, build the greatest solidarity and support of the entire labor movement with its union political organizations, social and national and international. The fight of the subway workers and workers is our fight!! If the subway workers win, everybody wins!

We, the Socialist Alternative and the International Socialist League - LIS, We will continue to support and do everything possible to massify and surround solidarity with this and each of the struggles against the bosses and their servile governments..
