Gustau Muñoz: Murder go unpunished
Continues the fight for the punishment of the murderers repressors. He 20 November 1975 He died in bed dictator Francisco Franco. Structured left years before his succession in Juan Carlos I, in the form of a parliamentary monarchy.
This date is the starting point of what is known as “The Spanish Transition”, a time period in which all the repressive remained active.
It is estimated that almost 200 people were killed in the streets of the Spanish State. They fell at the hands of police, Civil Guard and the extreme right, in many cases acting as the executive arm of the regime. Practically, in any perpetrators of crimes they have been tried or detained.
With the perspective that gives us time, we can say roundly, that such killings were part of the State's strategy to pursue continuity plans of Francoism, but changing the face. The workers' and student movement was very active, that complicated their plans and acted repressive apparatus.
As well, we must bear in mind that Spain was refuge of the Italian extreme right, German or Argentina. All performances had a patina of impunity that made them more violent.
For my brother, Gustau Muñoz, UJML militant and independence is a clear example of what we have described so far. Gustau had 16 when he was killed by the repression in Sant Jaume Square Area, during the Day 11 September 1978. It was the beginning of one of the many operations that the Ministry of Interior of that era set in motion to liquidate the opposition which manifested itself in the streets. Between the years 1977 Y 1978 the PCE (I) had many open fronts and a clear opposition to the Pact of Moncloa and a transition that did not allow any trial those responsible for the dictatorship.
After the death of Gustau shot in the head, al 34 Ferran street of Barcelona, for several days intense repression unleashed against militants party. When the funeral went ahead and already in the cemetery saw the first arrests continued thereafter. A month after the death of Gustau took place the death of Jordi Martínez de Foix, PCE militant (I) after an explosion in strange circumstances. None of these deaths came to trial.
A 40 years after the murder of Gustau, It has opened an avenue of research in Argentina, both his assassination and the Spanish Transition. Today, still they live many of his infamous protagonists and we have time to spend accounts with the story and its characters.
