Comrade Dmitriy Tsarenko - also known as Morozov- He is a leader of the Russian Socialist Movement in Izhevsk, Udmurtia and is being the victim of political persecution by the«Center to Combat Extremism» of the Ministry of the Interior. It is common for the authorities of these institutions to attack the political opposition. In May the police tried to hold him responsible for an arson attack at the office of the ruling United Russia party and he was later officially charged with"justify terrorism", for a speech he had given during a protest. something ridiculous, taking into account that on that occasion Morozov demanded the freedom of imprisoned anti-fascist activists, in a case fabricated by the secret police.

It is necessary to fight against any conviction, since it would be a very serious and dangerous precedent, aimed at intimidating the opposition, to the left, to any person who demonstrates in solidarity for democratic and/or social causes that are fair and, definitely, for there to be more political prisoners. The comrades of the Russian Socialist Movement denounce that“The criminal charges against Dmitriy are politically motivated and linked to his active role in organizing protests against the construction of a hazardous waste treatment plant in a nearby city”, a“his open criticism of the governor of the Udmurt Republic Alexander Brenchalov, and his plans to run for local office this year.”.

The attacks are not random. They occur within the framework of the growing repression of the Russian government and other governments that are incapable of stopping Covid-19., They prioritize corporate profits over people's lives and do not provide the necessary support to the most vulnerable, those who need social help the most.
