LIS Statement - Campaign: 1 dollar / 1 euro in solidarity with the Lebanese working class

The terrible explosion that took place in the port of Beirut was the last and indisputable proof of the bankruptcy of Lebanon's bourgeois sui generis political system.. The negligence of the bourgeois rulers, that allowed thousands of tons of explosives that could blow up half of Beirut, the heart of Lebanon, will be stored in the port without the necessary security controls, can only be explained by recklessness, ignorance and corruption.

It has been reported that 220 people have died due to the explosion so far. A dramatic picture that will get even darker as there are hundreds of people missing and there is no hope for them anymore. Six thousand people were injured and 300 a thousand were left homeless as a result of the explosion. In beirut, where poverty is rising rapidly and rents have risen to astronomical levels due to housing shortages, life has become much more unbearable for the working poor.

In lebanon, facing the worst economic crisis in its history, the working class has been on the streets for almost a year against the high cost of living, unemployment and mismanagement of rulers. Not even the conditions of the pandemic could stop the fight against the corrupt order. further, the pandemic exacerbated economic problems. This is why anger grew in Lebanon and the conditions for a social explosion matured day by day..

It was precisely at this moment that this latest disaster, caused by the deadly negligence of the Lebanese elite, caused the rebellion of the workers and youth. While, on the one hand, people had difficulty accessing basic food supplies and also faced power outages and piling up mountains of garbage. For the other, the luxurious life that the Lebanese capitalists did not hide at all, I end up igniting the anger of the working class. The result was the occupation of ministries by protesters and the fall of the government after violent protests.

Shiite elites not easy to displace, Sunnis and Christians in the bourgeois order of Lebanon, which is designed according to ethnic and sectarian divisions. The overthrow of governments only means new negotiations and redistribution of corruption. That is why the mobilization continues against the entire current regime, the rotten system and all these elites who suck the blood of Lebanon.

In the end, the resignation of the government and the repetition of the elections with the current parties controlling them does not make much sense. It is the unity of the working class under the banner of socialism that will definitely break the chains in Lebanon.. Our Lebanese comrades from the Youth Movement for Change, fight for this historic task. Building a revolutionary socialist force is vital to unite workers of all religious identities.

Nowadays, the imperialist capitalists are trying to extract concessions from Lebanon under the hypocritical name of assistance. The leading figure among them is Macron, who has the blood of the yellow vests on his hands. You have visited your old colony, the Libano, doing a political show. No solo Macron, but all the imperialist circles of the region are in all kinds of intrigues to play their cards in Lebanon. From the LIS we warn the Lebanese workers and youth about these imperialist opportunists. Trust only in your own power and in the Social Revolutionaries who try to organize the power of the working class.

In this context, class-conscious workers from the rest of the world also have an important task. LIS calls on workers and youth of the world to show solidarity with Lebanese workers. The stronger ourcampaign of 1 dollar / 1 euro for Lebanon, the stronger will be our solidarity with the Lebanese working class. The coordination of these aid will be done personally by the Lebanese Socialist Revolutionaries. Now is the time to increase class solidarity. The stronger this solidarity, the greater the contribution to the development of Lebanese socialism.

LONG LIVE INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY!

LONG LIVE THE SOCIALIST FEDERATION OF THE MIDDLE EAST!
