LIS Statement on Afghanistan: Against the barbarism of the Taliban and imperialism, solidarity with the working people and women of Afghanistan
After the attacks of the 11 of September, Bush's government and his international accomplices invaded Afghanistan and began the "war on terrorism". Supposedly, The objective was to eliminate radical Islamist organizations such as Taliban and Qaeda in countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq and bring them the alleged democracy and freedoms overthrowing dictators such as Saddam Hussein. Nevertheless, Afghanistan's experience clearly shows that nothing more than lies and hypocrisy should be sought behind the elegant words of imperialism.
At the end of the war of 20 years, that innumerable lives have been charged, the fate of the country of 38 millions remained in the hands of the ultra -reactionary regime of the Taliban. While these captured Kabul, The local collaborators of the Imperialists, Like Ashraf Ghani, And the gentlemen of the war like Rashid Dostum and At Muhammed Nur, fled from the country without looking back, Dozens of millions of the worst nightmares have become a reality.
After the Saur revolution of 1978, The CIA began to form Islamist militants in the region, policy that deepened after the invasion of the USSR the following year. These religious fans were trained, equipped and financed by the United States and its partners. Years later, These fans would organize a sectarian bloodbath in Muslim countries. These dark forces are also used as excuses to perpetrate imperialist interventions. Nevertheless, It was already clear that for the United States and its partners the weight of war in Afghanistan had lost meaning. The Imperialists, who have turned the country into hell during 20 years under the pretext of Islamic terrorism, Now they found the solution in reconciliation with the Taliban.
Last year, The US government signed the "agreement to take peace to Afghanistan" with the Taliban, With Qatar mediation. The Biden government, that he remained faithful to this agreement, He tried to reassure the public with which the Taliban, that have a group of 75.000 fighters, they had no chance of triumphing against the Afghan army of 300.000 soldiers, Equipped with the support of imperialism. Nevertheless, We have clearly seen how the Afghan army collapsed after the United States's decision to retire and how the rich fled with the war loot. In this sense, We must underline that the United States and its international imperialist partners were drowning in the Afghan swamp. This also shows how much United States, who has assumed the leadership of imperialism since World War II, has lost its impulse and fails to produce alternatives.
Nevertheless, The United States and its allies are trying to mold their failures in a way that will bring new imperialist clashes and new equations to the agenda. Various imperialist powers, both global and regional, including the neighboring countries of Afghanistan, They are involved in the evolution of the situation in Afghanistan. China, Russia and others see an opportunity to strengthen their position based on the relationship they have long ago with the Taliban, While the United States seeks to relocate after its defeat and establish some relationship with the new regime. Islamist authoritarian figures such as Erdogan, on the other hand, They declare the Taliban almost as brothers. To the extent that the Taliban complies with the imperialist plans, Women's oppression, children and anyone who does not obey, They will not represent a problem for the so -called "democratic world". In addition to this, The question of who will share the drug trafficking business that extends from Afghanistan to the world is also on the United States agenda.
Those who do not want to accept a future in Afghanistan with the Taliban are a majority, especially women, who have already begun to raise their voice against them.
The videos that show people trying to flee from the country clutching to the wing of an airplane have once again demonstrated how urgent the construction of a revolutionary avant -garde is. The existence of a revolutionary subject that could apply and direct the fight against the Taliban barbarism in a context in which the bourgeois order had collapsed and the bourgeois politicians were looking for where to escape, would have completely changed equations not only in Afghanistan but also throughout the region. The story is full of opportunities and defeats. If there were a revolutionary organization that organized resistance against the Taliban in Afghanistan today, It could grow rapidly and become the vanguard of the town. Since the LIS, We are aware that we have the historical responsibility of being prepared for these opportunities with the international revolutionary avant -garde that we build.
The working people and the oppressed of the Middle East must also conclude from the experience of Afghanistan that can never be trusted in imperialism. The only concern of the United States and its partners, who sell their dreams of democracy, They are your imperialist interests. Thus, Workers and oppressed can only trust their own organization and solidarity against poverty and tyranny. The most concrete way to do this is to perpetuate the revolution against local dictators, capitalism and imperialism, Based on the International Socialist Unit. The unity and struggle of workers is the only way out.
From the LIS, We declare that we sympathize with the workers, The women and the poor people of Afghanistan and we call the widest mobilization against the barbarism of the Taliban.
