France: the fourth round against Macron's reform

Saturday 11 February another day of struggle was carried out, with hundreds of thousands mobilized across France against Macron's anti-pension reform. Being on a non-business day, different from how it was done up to now, allowed the participation of new sectors and the atmosphere of the marches was more familiar. A successful fourth round of this relentless fight against the government and the bosses.

The number of people mobilized is between 963.000 and the 2,5 millions, in more than 200 cities of France, many more than last Tuesday 7 as the police themselves had to admit. Workers with their families once again said NO to the increase in the retirement age of 62 a 64 years and also the years of contribution. This fourth round has shown that a very massive level of rejection of Macron's reform remains., that there is strong discomfort in the working class and middle sectors in the face of the deterioration in the standard of living and that they are not willing to continue paying the capitalist adjustment.

While large columns of union and political organizations toured the center of Paris and other cities, and many independents joined the union processions, the Intersindical that brings together all the centrals reaffirmed the next national date of strike and mobilization: this Thursday 16.

Even with winter school holidays from the 18, now we are going to enter the period of greatest tension and definition. The government remains firm and is committed to achieving favorable votes in both chambers. In the other side, Despite the moderate pace of the Intersindical, already some federations such as the CGT and SUD Ferroviarios call to stop the 7 of March, butt with the 8 -International Day of Working Women- and then continue on redirectable strike.

A successful act at the service of the fight

looking forward to thursday 16 and days to come, The task of organizing general assemblies in each place of work and study is essential for activism., to demand that the leaderships radicalize the struggle and extend the call for a general strike that completely paralyzes all of France, only way to twist the arm of the Macron government, its reform and its capitalist partners.

In tune with this situation, the revolutionary wing of the NPA - in which the comrades of the LIS in France militate- made on wednesday 8 February a successful event in Paris, in the salon “La Bellevilloise”. There was an enthusiastic but thoughtful turnout, of over 500 assistants between workers and students. The Ken companions took the floor (car worker at PSA Poissy), Irina (University student), Armelle (teacher), Gaël Quirante (postal worker) and closed Damien Scali (railway from Lille). They made proposals to strengthen the current struggle against the reform and also for a political solution for the working class., anti-capitalist and revolutionary.

As the party newspaper says, now the task is“establish real ties between us, make meetings, general assemblies of strikers: with movements only directed from above, there is a risk that if one union loosens up, it will jeopardize the mobilization of all, we know this has happened before. It's our movement, The normal thing is that we control it from beginning to end”[1].
