Declaration of the Socialist International League: The people of Cuba need us
Cuba represents for Trump and his henchmen much more than a business field so that monopolies can profit from an eventual capitalist restoration.. It is a symbol of anti-imperialist dignity for having rejected the attempted invasion by the US and having expropriated corporations and landowners.. Bend his people and return the island to his control, Its purpose is to deliver a sobering blow to the people of Latin America as part of its global offensive on that region of the world to appropriate its common goods and assert its imperial power.. He is supported by the far-right governments of the region from Milei to Bukele. The tightening of the blockade, now with tariffs and sanctions on those who sell oil to Cuba directly or indirectly, It is a new attack to try to defeat that brother people out of desperation.. It is a fundamental input for the functioning of electricity, transport, the hospitals, universities, schools, drinking water and everything most basic for daily life. It is a cruel and inhuman siege and therefore, we have the obligationelementary anti-imperialistto locate ourselves in the field of the threatened town.
Go from words to actions
There is no doubt that this neo-colonial arrogance does not act in a vacuum.: The support of the Latin American extreme right adds to the role of the regime led by Díaz Canel. The policies they have been implementing strengthen the presence of private capital on the island and while they ensure privileges for the bureaucratic caste that governs, this contrasts with the situation of misery and lack of basic services suffered by the majority of the population., to which must be added the brutal repression of those from the island itself who question this course. All this makes Trump's offensive easier. The same goes for the so-called progressive governments of the region that give in to the pressures of the master of the North., and thus neither the Mexican government of Sheinbaum nor the Brazilian government of Lula, They guarantee crude oil supply to the island through Pemex and Petrobrás, which they could assure without any problem. Meanwhile, Russia or China, beyond declarative positions in the diplomatic field, nor did they take even the most basic measures to support the attacked country. They have to abandon this passivity and move on to supporting factsconcrete materialof everything essential to counteract the effects of the criminal blockade. There is no doubt that in the face of this panorama the political keyurgentconsists of promoting the broadest international anti-imperialist mobilization against the threats of Trump and his henchmen in every country in the world.
No pact with Trump: real democracy on the island to resist
Several times Trump insisted on stating thatThere were ongoing negotiations with the Díaz Canel government. It's more: pointed out Marco Rubio, reactionary number one, as your current interlocutor with representatives of the Cuban PC. We do not credit anything that imperialism says, but andthere is a humiliating precedentof Chavismo in Venezuela that agreed with Trump in a shameless and cowardly way. The Cuban government should not agree to anything behind the backs of the Cuban people.. Both, to guarantee a forceful and organized response from a people with an anti-imperialist and revolutionary tradition, must immediately release political prisoners on the island, ensure the broadest guarantee of democratic rights, connectivity, meeting and organization for groups and activists who in the country are located in the field of the sovereign defense of Cuba against all interference. Likewise, end all forms of repression, control and espionage especially against the youth who repudiate the gringo empire, but that have critical independence over the orientation of the political process in the country. It cannot be done under any circumstances, try to confront the empire beingexecutioner of the town itself. The perspective of the anti-bureaucratic political revolution is part of the defense of Cuba against imperialism and the conquests of the revolution that still exist., although notoriously deteriorated due to the criminal blockade, together with the restorationist policy of the Díaz Canel government.
Trump the choker, we hug her
Finally there is a humanitarian emergency that demands all our solidarity. The situation on the island is one of real imperialist suffocation: blackouts, shortages of essential supplies and interruptions in medical care. In Cuba, more than 80% of water pumping equipment depend on electricity, and power outages are undermining access to drinking water, to sanitation and hygiene. Fuel shortage hits the rationing system and the regulated basic family basket, and has affected social protection networks (school feeding, maternity homes and nursing homes), hitting especially the most vulnerable sectors. We cannot be indifferent.
From the International Socialist League we propose to set up aSolidarity Campaign with the People of Cubato gather resources and send independently as financial support from anywhere in the world. Let's organize solidarity collections in factories and companies, hospitals, universities and colleges. Let us carry out different initiatives such asSolidarity Days to raise awareness about the situation and raise funds to reach those dignified people who have resisted in an exemplary way for so many decades.. Or let's simply channel the individual commitment of people who want to collaborate personally.Everything adds up.
Faced with the policy of imperialist strangulation, the Cuban right from Miami and its communicating vessels in the island's capitalist private sectoraim to undermine the morale of the people. From the LIS we want to be the voice from the anti-bureaucratic left and independent of the regime that repudiates the blockade and denounces Trump, but also thewhich is located on the first concrete lineof the internationalist solidarity embrace to this threatened people.
There is no room to be indifferent.
The People of Cuba need us
The money raised will be given to a group of young peoplewho does social work in the most deprived neighborhoods.
