GSF-VIII: Augusta Farewell, Syracuse and back to the sea

The mooring in the port of Augusta lasted from 22 al 26 of April. During that period of time, a festival was held in Syracuse, a Congress in Brussels and the progress of the land convoy was announced. Our colleagues Cele Fierro and Raúl Laguna, who make up the mission on behalf of the International Socialist League (LIS), They told us their impressions.
Cele told us about the stay

“When we arrived in Augusta it was already late, but since our ship was one of the first to arrive, We had time to buy food and went back to rest. During the night and early morning the other boats were moored. We were all tired, but happy to complete the first section. The next day we went by bus to Syracuse, which is about 20 O 25 km from Augusta, to a solidarity festival with our flotilla and with Palestine.

This, already exciting, It multiplied for Raúl and me, since we were able to hug again with other LIS comrades, mainly Italians from the PCL of Catania, Palermo, Syracuse - with Alberto supporting us in everything- and with Jaqueline from GAM of Germany, who we had already met in Barcelona. Being so far from our mission-minded families, a militant hug feels stronger than ever.

The stopover came in handy to fix mechanical problems on the boats, resupply, regroup the crews and find out about other initiatives of the Flotilla. For example, the Sumud Global Parliamentary Congress held in Brussels with political leaders, humanitarian, legal experts and others around the world to begin implementing the Brussels Declaration.

further, We received the good news that the North African “Sumud” land caravan is still standing and will last between 20 Y 27 days. We are by land and sea! As a civil example, supportive and militant, opposed to the complicity and inaction of governments in the face of genocide, the ethnic cleansing and occupation of the State of Israel over the territories of Palestine and Lebanon.

ElDr. Raúl Laguna told us:

“Just as we do not forget Argentina and denounce Milei's visit to Israel, nor do we let it pass that here the 25 Liberation Day is commemorated in April, since on that date 1945 the partisan resistance launched the final insurrection against the fascist regime of Mussolini and the Nazi occupation, marking the beginning of the liberation of key cities such as Milan and Turin. We say never again, for yesterday and today. the far right, sea Trump, mercy, Netanyahu or Meloni, brings humanity closer to the abyss of barbarism. That's why we sail in the flotilla to confront Netanyahu, main exponent of a regime with fascist characteristics shared with Zionism. We'll see where we are on May 1st, on International Workers' Day, which for us is a very special date of struggle.

Departure of Augusta

An official statement from the GSF announced the departure in the port of Xiphonio, in Augusta, from the 12:00 Sunday 26 of April, with Italian and Spanish ships; reaffirming the objective of breaking the blockade of Gaza, demand respect for the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and denounce on all possible fronts the complicity of the international community; “building an international front capable of attacking the system of complicity that sustains the blockade: boycott, internal political pressure, union mobilization, general strikes and acts of nonviolent civil disobedience. “All these tools are being used as part of a common strategy to guarantee respect for the right of peoples to self-determination.”. Let no one take their eyes off the Flotilla.
