Morocco, a "safe country" but not for its people!

The responsibility of the Moroccan State in the massive entry of migrants into the colonial enclave of Ceuta is at the center of violent controversies between the Spanish Government, the right and the extreme right, to which are added divergent positions among Pedro Sánchez's partners.

And rightly so: PP and VOX take advantage of this situation.

Accusing Sánchez of weakness and even betrayal, They demand greater protection of the border and sanctions against Morocco, without being, Nevertheless, capable of specifying which. VOX advocates a total break; The PP is more hesitant taking into account economic relations with Morocco. What is evident is that the authoritarian character, repressive and dictatorial nature of the Moroccan monarchy does not bother them, as long as he remains in the subordinate place assigned to him. This doesn't bother Sánchez either., that strives to exonerate the Moroccan monarchy by accusing mysterious mafias…

Your friend the king is the enemy of your people

But this "friend of France" was also a "friend of Spain", both King Juan Carlos and Felipe González; was adored by investors… Agricultural land, phosphates and other subsoil riches, but also cheap and solidly controlled labor for offshore industries, including the automobile industry: a "safe country" for capitalists. Sánchez's abandonment of the Polisario Front shows that good relations continue with Mohamed VI.

The latter is less bloodthirsty than his father, but his regime is no less authoritarian, even dictatorial, since the powers of the deputies are very limited and the monarch is the only real authority. The repression of Moroccan youth movements against unemployment and precariousness, against prestige expenses for the football World Cup to the detriment of health and education budgets (2), reveals the nature of the regime. It is not surprising that a growing number of young, confirming the impossibility of changing things, seek by all means to leave the country.

And it is precisely these young people who are stigmatized, classified as invaders, accused of attacking the territorial integrity of Spain and Europe, by those themselves who, by supporting his "friend the King" and participating in the looting of the country, They bear a large part of the responsibility for their situation of helplessness.

Our enemies, the kings; our friends, the villages

The king of Morocco, but also Philip the Bourbon, They are our enemies, as they are from their own towns. when writing it, we add, Of course, to capitalist governments, including "republics", all at the service of the capitalists.

But our hostility towards the Moroccan monarchy does not mean hostility towards Morocco: We must oppose any racist drift linked to the current conflict around Ceuta. For the extreme right, Morocco is a barbaric country that threatens civilization: when VOX, who on the other hand supports Putin, wants to break diplomatic relations with Morocco, does not target Mohamed VI, but against the "Moors". In Ceuta itself, located in Africa, the arab population, always socially discriminated against despite her Spanish nationality, is increasingly subjected to racist and Islamophobic attacks (3).

The controversy surrounding the organization of the World Cup and the location of the final entails great risks. Those in favor of excluding Morocco are found on both the extreme right and the reformist left.. evidently, the reasons invoked are not the same. For VOX, who cares little about the living conditions of the Moroccan people, This is part of the fight against the Moors. For SUMAR and other progressives (the same demands are found in Portugal), It is about denouncing a dictatorial regime. But if this campaign develops, We may fear some difficulties in distinguishing between two positions that want to reserve the organization of sporting events to "civilized" countries. (as if in these countries the World Cup were not a source of great profits for capitalists and a pretext to cut social budgets in order to finance investments).

And neither of them proposes to consult the Moroccan population!!

There is no other way out than the determined fight against neocolonial policies that reduce people to misery, for the benefit of large capitalist groups. The workers of the Spanish State must fight alongside their brothers and sisters in Morocco against the oppressors and exploiters of both countries. The union of workers will make peace in the world. We return to this old slogan of the labor movement, giving it all its revolutionary meaning of fight for socialism.
