Belarus: No to the closure of the BNP and the repression

As a corollary to the arrests and trials of labor leaders, President Alexander Lukashenko intends to cease the activities of the Independent Trade Union of Belarus (BNP). The dictator considers anyone who is not an official an enemy. Worthy puppet of Putin, Who does he depend on for political survival?. The population is gagged and handcuffed by the repression. Underground organization and resistance are more necessary than ever. Solidarity with the BNP and all unions attacked.

After the massive demonstrations against Lukashenko's electoral fraud, a generalized persecution of people whomassively demonstrated in the streets, the activists, the political opposition and the labor movement.

With an eye on Independent Trade Unionism

Although the repression is widespread, has focused on the working class. One of the organizations sufferingsystematic attacks is the BNP. Over time their offices were raided, theiractivists and leaders arrested and prosecuted up to the arrest of its president Maxim Poznyakov. As a corollary to the elimination of freedoms, justice intends to definitively liquidate independent trade unionism.

Will the BNP be closed?

"The 12 A meeting of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus will be held in July to consider the lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office against the Independent Trade Union of Belarus. The prosecution demands the cessation of union activity. Prosecutor General Andrei Shved sent a statement to the Supreme Court on the termination of the activities of all independent professional associations in Belarus. This became known from the press service of the department. The report of the attorney general's office indicates that since 2020 the activities of the independent unions "acquired a politicized character", and its leaders and ordinary members engaged in "destructive activities", participated in "unauthorized mass events", distributed "extremist products". Criminal cases are raised on all the facts. In addition to the Independent Trade Union of Belarus, the Supreme Court will consider lawsuits against the Free Trade Union of Belarus, the Free Trade Union of Metalworkers, the Trade Union of Workers of the Radio-Electronic Industry of Belarus, así como la Asociación de Unions “Belarusian Congress of Democratic Unions». A preliminary hearing was held a week ago with the participation of a lawyer from the Independent Union. She provided the judge with an objection to the lawsuit. The court session was held behind closed doors.. Anticipating the lawsuit filed by the attorney general's office, by decision of the local authorities, the primary organizations of the BNP at the Mozyr Oil Refinery, Naftan and Belshina were deregistered within six months. Grodno regional court, at the request of the prosecutor of the Grodno region, decided to recognize the main organization of the BNP «Grodno Azot» as extremist, prohibit its activities and liquidate it with the immediate execution of the judicial decision. The president of the BNP, Maxim Poznyakov, intends to try to save the union until a decision is made on its liquidation: “We have already lost the primary organizations, we are trying to appeal the decisions, but, frankly, I have little faith in success. If we manage to keep BNP as a whole right now, It will be good". It is worth noting that mass searches were previously carried out, detentions and arrests in independent unions and the BKDP. They know each other at least 19 cases. Leaders and activists were arrested. Under arrest is the vice president of the BNP Alexander Mishuk”.

A Stalinist dictatorial regime

There is no way to understand the seriousness of what is happening without knowing that there is a Stalinist dictatorial regime in Belarus., that carries 28 years in power applying measures similar to those of the fascist governments. The repression intensifies to crush those who are not official and prevent the organization against Lukashenko. Any person who has participated in street demonstrations or opposes the war is considered a "terrorist", an enemy to act upon.

Putin's Puppet

Lukashenko survived the wave of mass mobilizations thanks to Putin's counterrevolutionary support. Now he returns the precious favor of keeping him in power with a shameful support for the invasion of Ukraine, tax with repression. Lukashenko has given the Belarusian territory to the Russian imperialist army as a logistics transfer route and a missile launching platform.

Servant without limits

The servility to Russia is so great that they installedtwo questions: Will Belarus join the invasion with troops?? Will it be annexed to the Russian Federation? In any of the variants - even without fulfilling any of them- while the dictatorial regimes of Putin and Lukashenko last, there will be no democratic freedoms; will continue the repression and political and economic dependency-submission to theRussian imperialist ambitions cruelly manifested in war.

Resistance and organization

Although society is handcuffed and gagged to express it, we know that the majority is against the invasion of Ukraine, this is confirmed by our Belarusian comrades. Where and how the people could have manifested it, mainly in theheroic actions of railway workers boycotting the tracks so that Russian ammunition does not reach neighboring Ukraine. The need for a strong revolutionary and socialist organization has gone from urgent to dramatic, although now it must be provided with a clandestine structure and functioning that resists together with the working class. From the LIS we will continue displaying our solidarity with the BNP and all the attacked unions, with the workers, with the people and with our Belarusian comrades who are resisting dictatorial and war attacks as best they can.
