Let's support the claim of teachers and workers at L'H: Less Mossos, more social educators!
Protests began
Monday's day 27 started early, before the start of classes, with simultaneous concentrations at the Margarida Xirgu and Eugeni d'Ors institutes. Thence, and a group has joined our organization, educational staff and workers moved between both centers, making visible a forceful rejection of the Government's plan (PSC) – local representative of the Spanish government of the supposed progressive Pedro Sánchez- which foresees the presence of Mossos d'Esquadra in civilian clothes in thirteen institutes as a pilot experience.
All morning, The protest was marked by clear and repeated slogans: “Less Mossos and more social educators”, “Neither in uniform nor in civilian clothes: “more resources and less police” Y “Security forces out of educational centers”. The banners at the entrances reinforced the same message: conflict in classrooms is not resolved with police measures, but with social investment.
In that sense, The workers' assemblies issued a joint statement in which they demanded the immediate withdrawal of the plan and the incorporation of social educators., counselors and specialized personnel to accompany complex situations.
The protest was promoted by organizations such as USTEC-STEs, together with other union organizations and grassroots assemblies. These sectors, that are the majority in Catalan education, They denounced not having been consulted by the Department of Education and openly took a position against a measure that they consider regressive.. At the same time, union division was exposed, since recent Government agreements had the endorsement of CCOO and UGT, minorities in the educational sector, which deepens the conflict.
The fighting continues
Far from closing, the fighting process remains open. New steps are proposed from the combative assemblies and unions, which include the extension of the protests to other centers affected by the pilot plan, the call for new concentrations and the possibility of moving towards more far-reaching measures if the Government does not back down. Coordination between institutes and territories appears as a key axis to sustain and expand the rejection.

Surround the mobilized Institutes with solidarity
The day reaffirms the need for unconditional support for all fighting measures by educational personnel, uniting workers with the entire educational community. In the face of a policy that seeks to respond with more police presence to structural social problems, the defense of public education with resources is proposed, inclusion and professional support. The slogan that ran through the streets of L'Hospitalet summarizes this orientation: less police and more social investment in classrooms, which points against a common practice of capitalist governments: prioritize control and repression over the real resolution of the serious problems and social inequalities caused by the system.
