Occidental Sahara: Freedom for Naâma Asfari and all political prisoners!
Naâma Asfari is a Sahrawi political prisoner who has been on a hunger strike for 46 days in a Moroccan prison. He did it to denounce the inhuman conditions of confinement and the repression imposed by the occupation.. Solidarity must be redoubled until we achieve the freedom of all Sahrawi political prisoners and the right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination.

Naama Asfari, Sahrawi activist 56 years imprisoned by Morocco since 2010 and condemned to 30 years of imprisonment in Kenitra prison, suspended the 24 July the indefinite hunger strike that had begun 8 of June. During 46 days Naâma held the protest to denounce the conditions of imprisonment, demand adequate medical attention and demand his transfer to a prison located in the territory of Western Sahara.
The strike once again highlighted the situation suffered by Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan prisons. Solidarity and human rights defense organizations have been denouncing isolation for years, the mistreatment, restrictions on family visits and the systematic violation of the rights of those who defend the independence of Western Sahara.
Morocco violates human rights and represses, while the European Union and Spain look the other way, They even wash the face of the reactionary monarchical regime of Mohamed VI. The Asfari protest is a new symbol of resistance against the repressive policy of the Moroccan occupation.
Political organizations, union and human rights we have to continue promoting statements and actions to demand their freedom and on that path, guarantees for the lives of Asfari and all Sahrawi political prisoners. International pressure has to be decisive to make visible a situation that usually remains silent while Morocco maintains its occupation of the Sahrawi territory with the support of the main imperialist powers..
The suspension of the hunger strike does not end the struggle. The demand continues to be the immediate and unconditional freedom of Naâma Asfari and all Sahrawi political prisoners., the cessation of repression against those who defend the national rights of the Sahrawi people and the fulfillment of the right to self-determination of Western Sahara, mocked by decades of UN-backed maneuvers. The international solidarity mobilized must be strengthened until the Moroccan occupation is ended and guaranteed that the Sahrawi people can freely decide their future..
